I was going to work on a poem about loneliness. As I sit at home alone wondering where all the friends I have had over the years have gone and what they are doing I feel more alone than I ever have. I am an introvert who has always tried to escape from the social life. Today I find myself craving other people, wanting to hear different conversations and genuine laughter. I wanted to write that poem, but this old song says it pretty well.

My favorite S&G song. I tend to interpret it (seeing as Simon ain't gonna tell us what the lyrics mean) as being more about alienation than loneliness, but obviously the one can lead to the other. Anyway, it's a great song.
