ReplyDeletei grew up listening to him. my mother, and her brother, my uncle, were jazz fans. they were the coolest cats. thanks for this reminder.
ReplyDeleteMy Pleasure. Smooth later came to describe a style of music similar to jazz but without the improvisational aspect. I like smooth jazz though after a while it all sounds alike while the "smooth" that is Ahmad Jamal and Milt Jackson and so many others never seems to lose it's freshness.
